Steem greetings to all the amazing chefs on the Steemit ecosystem and welcome to my blog as I share ideas about drinks in the week 6 gastronomy class.

In this course we are required to prepare a drink to be accompanied with either a main dish, starter or desserts.

Alcoholic or Non-alcoholic drinks, Which is the Best Option for you to Accompany a Meal?


To be honest, I most often prefer non-alcogolic drinks especially when I'm in a work mode. With non-alcoholic drinks, I have a stable mindset which permits me to do my work with a calm mind.

But when I'm not in a work mode, I take a bit of alcoholic drink like red wine. The amount of sugar in red wine is minimal which helps also to neutralize the amount of sugar consumed in non-alcoholic drinks.

Preparation of a Non-Alcoholic Drink.


For the non-alcoholic drink, I did prepare natural orange juice. The ingredient to be used was oranges.

Steps to follow.

The quantity I required was for 1 person to be eaten with a main dish. I took my oranges and washed them with clean water to be sure they were clean.

Then I used the knife to peel off the peelings so that it would be easy for me to squeeze out the juice. I went to the market to buy an orange juicer machine but could not find one. I had to use my hands to squeeze.

I used the knife to cut the oranges into two halves to remove the seeds from the orange before squeezing.

Then I placed the cup and used my fingers to squeeze out the juice into the glass. I repeated the process of squeezing until I got the required quantity of juice I needed.

Then I served it with some ice cubes with rice prepared with vegetables and meat. It was a hot weather and I needed something cold while relaxing outdoor.

Why Did you Choose this Drink and Dish Combination?


I choose fried rice with orange juice because, rice contains lots of carbohydrates and the orange juice will help to ease digestion.

I choose this drink because it contains a high amount of vitamin C which is good for boosting my immune system. It helps the white blood cells to function well.

Secondly, it helps to prevent flu. This is the season in my country where most people suffer from flu and with the consumption of oranges, helps prevent the flu.

Thirdly, it increases your PH level which helps to prevent the formation of kidney stones.

Orange juice helps to improve our vision because it keeps our ocular blood vessels healthy and prevents us from cataracts.

The rice I prepared with veggies and meat which contains high fibre and protein, therefore the orange juice will aid in neutralizing the high fibre and high proteins from meat.
