The Mysterious Town

in #gedwriting8 years ago

Fear filled the air in the small town of Pine Hill. It was the tenth murder in 10 weeks, most of the community in the town were too frightened to leave their houses unless it was necessary. The town had an eerie presence about it that made the hair at the back of your neck stand up once you entered. Each of the murdered victims were killed by strangulation with a thick rope and their bodies were found in the lake.

Detective Brian Marsh was put on the case, he had dealt with a few murders but never with killings of this magnitude and precision, but he was the only person that could figure it out. Marsh was a very intelligent man. He was an only child to a single mother, she passed away a few years back. Marsh rarely showed any emotions.

The most recent victim of the vicious killings was a 22 year old girl named Lucy Black. Her body was found in a park nearby the next day. This murder was different to the others, it seemed as if it was personal. She was struck with a blunt object to the head and the crime scene seemed "sloppy" compared to the others. The body was sent in for an autopsy to see if anything could be recovered.

Detective Marsh went to Lucy's house to see if he could find any clues, she lived with her boyfriend Tom Patterson, who was working at that time. Marsh searched through every inch of the house, he saw that there was a small bump on the wooden floor which was covered by a long carpet, he pushed the carpet aside and he found a door which led to the basement. He entered carefully, what he found was shocking. He found plans to all the murders that occurred and pictures of all the victims.

He rushed to where Tom worked, which was small factory in the industrial area. Tom was arrested and taken in for questioning, he then admitted that him and Lucy were the culprits behind the murders but Lucy was threatening to go to the police because she couldn't take the guilt anymore, so he had to kill her.

Tom was sentenced to the death penalty. The news of his arrest was on all the newspapers and the town was finally safe from the two killers.
