It was most unexpected of my long bike ride. Something like this has never happened before so it took me a little by surprise. My story began on my way home from an extra long bike ride and gIven that I was in a very quiet part of my area I decided to ride on the bike lane on the road. It is easier and faster away from walkers with their dogs and prams.
All was kosher until I was riding across an intersection, a very quiet one or so I thought. I never saw this little scene taking place as all seems inconsequential and fine. But, I was not on my own. Riding in the opposite direction and coming quite close was another bike rider running his dog on a lead and one car sitting at a give way sign. This motorist gave way to the young man and his dog and assuming that I had right of way I continued to ride across. But, thankfully I rode slowly because there as something telling me to be careful.
Thankfully I listen to my intuition because this man started to drive across the road toward me. I stopped, he stopped, it was one heck of a Mexican standoff! Good, he is waiting ran through my mind so slowly started to move just as he took off fast giving me the finger and an agro stare. He was definitely not happy!"
What did I do? I am not one to stir up already angry people so I stood with my bike showing no emotion on my face glad to see the back of him as he zoomed off. I call it self preservation. My thoughts immediately went to the professional cyclists I see riding on the road in groups . It is so dangerous as they do get knocked off their bikes and not only hurt badly but some are tragically killed.
Happy Tuesday everyone, stay well and safe.
Cheers and Blessings

Here are some funnies that friends have shared with me on facebook. We can all do with a laugh right now.

lol...those are great memes angiemitchell but I'm sorry you had that rude driver encounter. He must have been having a terrible day and you just happened to be there to lash out at!
Hi janton, I think you are right. I didn't take offence at his behaviour. The incident was a good lesson for me to be remain cautious and careful. We don't ride too fast because one day I was on the footpath and an older couple with a little dog walked on to the path from the beach track without looking or pausing. Thank goodness my brakes work.
I agree, you have to be super careful on bikes because they are too quiet and people can't here them coming..I guess you need to take a radio with you and have it blasting. lol.
The road rage of the Aussie roads some have no patients luckily you survived the Mexican Standoff ... lol :)
