Don't forget your children are watching

in #gems5 years ago (edited)

A very poignant way children learn best from their mums and dads is through watching. It is called parent modelling. So rather than 'do as I say it is do as I do' that matters the most. Action speaks louder than words, it has the most impact.

It is not uncommon for parents who are extremely stressed and constantly loose their cool with their kids, seek help from educational psychologists. They believe that their kids have huge oppositional behavioural problems and want them fixed. Finding out the real problem takes time and hard work from the psychologist and the parents. Once parents are asked to look at their own behaviours at home for a week, they realise that their yelling and not following through with threats and warnings create the exact behaviours in their kids.

A parenting training session follows that teaches the parents more effective ways to discipline their children. It works and world war 3 ends in homes.

How parents behave outside the home counts too. Fighting over essential items in supermarkets is sure to have lasting behavioural impacts on their kids and any others who happen to be bystanders.

This facebook photo says it all.

Our kids are our most important resources, we need to get our parenting approaches right as fast as we can.

Cheers and blessings

have seen a quote going around lately about these uncertain times,& this post brings it to mind..

tough times don't last, tough people do

✌️ thnx for stopping by! glad to see you still posting :)

Glad to see you are posting too, I am not one to give up and certainly do not do this for the money.

I have seen this quote too. And one of my own quotes is - "It is not the situation the gets to you, it is the way you handle it." I am forever the eternal optimist.
