Mount Erebus is an active volcano on Ross Island in Antarctica.

Almost 4,000 meters above sea level, the mountain is surrounded by snow and ice. Erebus Mountain is like a cauldron covered with ice due to freezing cold outside but boiling with active volcano lava.

The gases from the lava lake at a temperature of about 1000 ° C melted the places they passed as they went up. This created ice caves inside the mountain. The hot gases move through the cavities created by these caves and the crevices of the mountain and reach the surface of the mountain.

However, when they come to the surface, it freezes with the effect of cold weather outside and ice towers like fairy chimneys emerge as seen in the photo.
