Here in the arctic we still are not quite beach ready despite the warm spring this year.

Still I had a nice visit this weekend, and got to observe some nice beach-ice interactions.

The drag marks that can be seen are of the same type that can be observed in death valley in USA, and it was long thought that water was involved there somehow despite it being one of the driest places on earth.

In death valley, rocks are transported slowly across the sand from the wind alone.

My photos show the arctic beach variant of this process, only here both the tide and wind has been involved in creating the furrows.
