Geopolis is a community that promotes and connects people who are interested in fields of "global" sciences. These are the sciences that deal with planet earth and the interesting interactions taking place on it. Although just as fascinating, they do not always fit in the categories of "STEM". Here at Geopolis they are the corner stone of the community.

It is very noteworthy to speak of mining in Venezuela, simply because this beautiful country is one of the richest in mineral resources in the world. The main diamond mines of Venezuela, are mainly in the Caroné river basin and are owned by mining companies consolidated by agreements with the Venezuelan State, in this part I will explain a bit of everything, starting from diamond production in Venezuela the mining techniques and the main areas of legal and illegal mining.
Geology: Bizarre Natural Phenomena Vol. 69 - Strange Hollow Blue (The Marble Caves Of Chile Chico)
This phenomenon is dedicated to sweet abigail-dantes, as it is about a beautiful place in Chile. First, I need you to picture a lake with a huge marble rock inside. Pretty dull, isn't it? Now let's add some spectacular shades of azure blue to the waters. Things are getting better, don't you agree? Oh, and... and try to imagine the huge marble rock hollowed to the base in a way that creates elaborate caverns of different colors that create a unique palette when the lake waters start reflecting on their walls...

Eearlier this year I wrote a post about the Plastic Bag Ban in Bocas del Toro, the beautiful archipielago in the Caribbean side of Panama where we live.
I am currently part of the Environmental Committee of the Social Civil Group in Bocas, and also an active member of the Cero Basura Group which I feel very proud of.
It is thanks to the Cero Basura Group efforts that we have accomplished these initiatives, but also thanks to all the people, business owners and locals that have been supporting the new Municipal laws...
