Romanian interference.
Russia is trying to do exactly what it did to Ukraine in Romania.
Romanian intelligence services have declassified documents showing that the pro-Putin candidate Georgescu was promoted on TikTok using an activated network of TikTok accounts that were created as far back as 2016 and a network of Telegram accounts as far as back as 2022.
These accounts were activated to promote Georgescu in the lead up to the Romanian presidential elections.
Romania believes a state actor (Russia) was behind the effort. This activation coincided with cyber attacks on the Romanian elections agency.
1 million euros were transferred for the operation. Close to $400k was given to TikTok influencers to promote Georgescu content as well.
Georgescu says he will stop the export of Ukrainian grain and end Romanian aid to Ukraine. And that he will not follow NATO spending commitments.
