The Use Of Essential Oils In The Garden
We all know what essential oils are, and most of us have already used them, whether to freshen up the room with a nice scent, or as a natural medicine.
Few people know, however, that essential oils can also be very useful in your (vegetable) garden.
Essential oils have a strong scent, and I assume you can already imagine who doesn't like such strong scents...
Yep, bugs.
Different Scents For Different Bugs
Thousand of bugs are living in your garden. If you take a good look around, you'll find many different species.
Essential oils can get rid of them all. You just need to know which scent to use for which bug.
You'll find a short list below:
Aphids: Peppermint
Cockroaches: eucalyptus
Lice: peppermint, sandalwood, pine
Ants: peppermint
Moths: lavender, pepermint
Mosquitoes: Patchouli, Lemongrass
Slugs: Patchouli, White fir
Ticks: lavender, lemongrass, thyme
Flees: lavender, lemongrass, peppermint
Flies: basil, clove, eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint, rosemary
How To Use Essential Oils Against Bugs
Put 10 to 15 drops of the essential oil you've chosen in a (500ml) spray bottle.
Fill the spray bottle with water.
For each half a liter of water, add half a teaspoon of organic liquid soap.
Give everything a good shake.
Spray your plants. Make sure both the tops and bottoms of the leaves are soaking wet.
Repeat 1 week later (if it is still necessary)

These are great tips! I have used peppermint oil against spiders. Well, it kept them away for a few hours. Then they were all back :) I like that the lavender is good against ticks. I enjoy the scent of lavender so I can use it when I go to the forest next time. Thank you for sharing the tips!
Have you used many of these? I am wondering about the one for slugs....
I see another person who commented said theirs didn't last very long. What has your experience with how long they last been?
Seems great tips. Thanks for sharing. 👍
