Marketplace For Crypto Collectibles Nixes Creator Robbery

in #gjdkhls2 years ago

With many of them earning hundreds of thousands of dollars every month. But we also understand that some creators have felt like they've been taken advantage of by the marketplace. We want to make sure that everyone who works hard to create something valuable gets paid fairly for it.

When we launched OpenSea back in 2014, there were no rules or guidelines that governed how much money creators could make from selling their game's IPs. We assumed that if you built an app in the App Store that was popular enough to make money, you deserved to be rewarded for it.

We were wrong. Over time we've seen many patterns emerge where creators are making more than their apps would ever earn on average — and sometimes even more than they would if they'd released it directly through Apple's own store. This has led many people to believe they've been cheated out of royalties by OpenSea when in reality they're just being compensated fairly for the time they spent working on their apps in the first place.
