It's Good To Strive For Perfection, But Avoid Being Fixated

Think of the idea that we are better than the next guy, or that we can do anything. Let's say that we have to work hard in order to succeed, but then after we have accomplished our goals, we may not like the thought of having failed. We have to face our fears of failure and work harder, because we're proud of our accomplishments. When our work and achievements are so extraordinary that we may become "superduper", in some aspects, it may just feel like our work is impossible to compete with the next guy.

"Not all perfection is good. Just as nature does not make every speck of dust perfect, neither will perfection be our aim for the world."

If we can add a certain quality to our life, then that quality could become our distinguishing characteristic. Let's look at how optimal pitch performance can boost your career. I'll also include some cases where perfect pitch could be a problem, and tips on avoiding it.

One of the important considerations in any problem-solving project is that the product we're looking to create needs to be "safe", and there is a fine line between striving to make something safe and not looking at all closely at the design. One often hears the advice that we should strive for perfection, in order to maximize our potential. If you strive for perfection, you are always looking for opportunities to improve. As one mentor once said, Perfection is a flat line that becomes a curve, and therefore no matter how far along you are, you are never where you want to be The problem with this kind of motivation is that people often lose sight of what is important. Rather than pushing themselves to reach their goal, they drive themselves to do it on their terms. Often, this results in being fixated.

In practice, the problem is that if you're fixated on perfection, you're missing a lot of great opportunities to grow and achieve your goals. The longer you're fixated on perfection, the more likely you are to make bad decisions. It's often hard to be slightly imperfect. Strive for perfection, but avoid the delusion that you will be perfect. It's true that the natural tendency is to desire perfection, but that doesn't necessarily make it more desirable.


If you have a tendency to become fixated on your goals or projections in life, a good approach is to monitor your progress frequently and reevaluate your goals or projection as necessary. Don't get wrapped up in looking at your goals every time you have a conversation. Acknowledge the concerns of those around you, and make your goals clear to yourself. This will allow you to free your mind from obsessing over your goals.

The dilemma with trying to become a perfectionist is that it's easy to become obsessed with getting it right. The sooner you realize it's OK to falter a little, the more likely you will not put yourself under the pressure of trying to win. Instead, you'll realize that success is about surviving the day-to-day and making it through the current moment.
