Is our privacy really private?

Privacy is a really discussed topic, we know that everything we say on social networks will stay there forever, and the recent facebook drama has tested that our privacy may really be at risk. Big companies such as Facebook and Google know way too much about us.

But what if privacy isn't the only problem.

A message from an user recently appeared on 4chan, stating to be working for Google, the user wants to remain anonymous.

I'll quote the most important parts for you:

I work for Google, I'm not going to name the internal tech department for obvious reasons, I don't want anyone to pinpoint who I am. But I'm in tech, and work with AI. I'll explain.
My team and I created AI bots for twitter. These bots are slightly different than regular AI bots. These are remote signal bots, but I'll explain what they do.

My team and a human intelligence team work together to make certain topics trend, and persuade public opinion, which persuades political pressure.
The bots we created, go into twitter conversations and push a narrative. Some of the bots are verified accounts. And they start arguing a point of view against someone, and then more bots join in and thumbs up the comment.

Today's bots can easily simulate a real human and a conversation, they are so advanced it's almost impossible to distinguish a bot from a real person.

We are doing it with gun control now. More people see a "consensus" of gun control and people on the fence get persuaded to our narrative, and politicians get pressured by thinking it's actual people.

This is also a violation of the SEC, we are fabricating twitter users and using them for stocks & advertisers. I signed that I wouldn't discuss this, so I need to stay anonymous.

If you didn't understand how this works, here's an easy explanation:

1. A bot starts a conversation about gun control.
2. Another bot responds "Guns should be legal because of x"
3. A group of bots will click like on the response in mass and the response may become viral and get to our politicians or influence other people's thoughts.

Now, this message is hard to believe and I'm very skeptical about it, we do not have any proof the user really works for Google or he is saying the truth, but if we think about it, in the world we live this may actually be possible.
The people on media are extremely easily influenced by the public opinion, and the giant Google pulling off a consensus cracking technique may not be so improbable.
