GOVERNMENT CONTRACTING! Is Your Business Ready???

Did you know that the U.S. government is the world’s largest customer and is required by law to provide opportunities for small businesses? YES!

The federal government purchases 400 billion dollars in goods and services from the private sector each year and at least 23 percent of all contracting dollars are awarded to qualified Small businesses.

There are a few government-contracting programs that your business can qualify and get a contract awarded to that is sponsored by the small business administration.

For women who own and operate a small business there is a program specifically designed for you and it’s called the Women-Owned small business federal contract program. How much do you love that?

Now, for everyone who has an interest in bidding on a government proposal, your business must first obtain a DUNS number from Dun & Bradstreet if it doesn’t already have one. (We get a lot of emails asking about this step of the process because a lot of new entrepreneurs don’t know anything about dun&bradstreet and how this agency really helps your business) I’ve spoken about the importance of having a DUNS number for business credit building in a previous episode. The number assignment is free for all businesses required to register with the federal government for contracts or grants. You can go to the Dun & Bradstreet website and apply online TODAY!

For all of my fellow female entrepreneurs who own thriving businesses, Are you ready to join the plethora of women who are taking their businesses to the next level on a daily basis? I feel like you are so here are the eligibility requirements that I know you are sure to meet:
*A woman must hold the highest officer position in the business

• This woman must work at the business full-time during normal working hours
• The business must be at least 51% unconditionally and directly owned by women who are U.S. citizens
• Women must manage the day-to-day operations
• There is no minimum amount of time for your business to be operational

Lets not waste any time enhancing the growth of our businesses. Make sure that you have your DUNS number. Go to SAM.gov to start the registration process. Then you will continue on to get the proper certification at certify.SBA.gov.
