Shiv Sena hits out at PM Modi, says Rahul capable of leading the nation
Rahul Gandhi, who is likely to be promoted to the post of party president, is often mocked as ‘Pappu’ by a section on social media.
Shiv Sena, the oldest ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Goods and Services Tax (GST) and stressed that so-called ‘Modi wave’ has faded.
Not only this, Member of Parliament (MP) and Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut praised Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi saying he is capable of leading the country.
“Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is capable of leading the country. It is wrong to call him ‘Pappu’,” Raut said while addressing a discussion on a TV channel.
The Gandhi scion, who is likely to be promoted to the post of party president, is often mocked as ‘Pappu’ by a section on social media.
“The ‘Modi wave’ was there in 2014 Lok Sabha elections but now it seems to have faded away. The way people are marching on roads of Gujarat after GST was introduced, it seems they (BJP) are going to face a challenge,” Raut added.
The Shiv Sena itself has time and again slammed Gandhi. In 2015, the party had said that even 100 Rahul Gandhis cannot match Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘mega wave’.
Sena, the oldest constituent of the NDA, has been critical of the several policies of the NDA government. The Uddhav Thackeray-led party has been attacking PM Modi regularly and has often taken potshots at the BJP through editorials in the party mouthpiece Saamana.
