The Roundabout of Street Art - Part III - Boémia Caffé

in #graffiti6 years ago (edited)

One of these days I came across this lady, who was pretty relaxed while painting on the street, near the Rotunda da Boavista (Boavista Roundabout), in Porto.

The place she has chosen to sit and work couldn't be any better.

Behind her, there was the Boémia Caffé, a coffee house which has been decorated by the Street Artist Youth One (who I've talked about a month ago, in my post Youth One - The Father of Graffiti in Portugal)

This happened on a Sunday, the best - and only - day of the week to enjoy these artworks, since this coffee house is usually open all day long, from Monday to Saturday and, during the daytime, these pieces are hidden out of sight.

From left to right, here are a few close up shots of the several drawings that complete the decoration of this caffé.

I love these drawings, they're really creative, cheerful and colourful. The theme was very well chosen - inspired by the name of the coffee house. These Graffiti really draw your attention, if you're walking by.

As you've probably guessed, Boémia means Bohemia, which comes from Bohemianism:

Bohemianism is the practice of an unconventional lifestyle, often in the company of like-minded people and with few permanent ties. It involves musical, artistic, literary or spiritual pursuits. In this context, Bohemians may or may not be wanderers, adventurers, or vagabonds.

All the drawings relate to this. What a great concept and execution. Don't you think?

Now, you're probably left wondering: what was she painting? It seems she had her eyes placed on the Casa da Música (House of Music), that weird looking building you can see behind these decrepit buildings.

But she could also be painting the overall scene, with the people passing by the murals right across the street, which I had show you in Part II of this series, so you might wanna check my earlier posts, if you want to admire all the pieces in that mural:

I hope you enjoyed this post... and keep an eye out of my blog, as I've just discovered a few more Graffiti near this place. (I'm waiting for a day with good weather to go take a few shots.)

Really cool grafitties you captured here @trincowski :) I especcially like the different combinations of colors. Another highlight to me is the last picture sinc you have the old building in front and behind a total modern one. And the wall shows again graphics back in the old days, while modern tourists just walk by! Super awesome

Thanks for sharing :)

Love the abstraction and vibrant colours! I was not familiar with the Bohemian lifestyle but it's quite fascinating. It's remarkable how much great artwork adorns Portugal.

Thanks for your comment and visit, Jeremy!
