She has arrived! Please say hello to Willa Rae, the Great Dane!

At 8 weeks old, she ended up not being the smallest of the liter. She weighed in at 13.6 lbs, while the smallest of the liter was around 9 lbs. So far she's been a joy! 432However, I've never dealt with as much poop as I have in the past 24 hours. It's kinda crazy the amount of food she can devour in such a short span of time (I'm really regretting not buying that bigger bag of food at the store). I think we should just resort to signing up on Chewy.com so we can receive her food on an automatic monthly basis because this is insane. Does anyone else use Chewy.com? I understand she is a growing puppy and all but man, I wasn't expecting this.

She is on somewhat of a schedule. She eats every 5-6 hours. We have been trying to stretch it closer to 6 hours every feeding because when we go back to work on Tuesday, she'll have to deal with a feeding in the morning, a later feeding when I get home from work and her last during the night. Hopefully we can wean her off a third feeding within the next month or so.

She's been waking up every morning around 3am and then again around 5am. So she does not fully sleep through the night just yet. Another thing we have to work on because I can totally do without these 3am wake-up calls where she expects to play and chew on everything in sight.

Willa is teething big time so she's constantly chewing on something, normally a toy, shoe, or the metal legs of my coffee table. Today I made her some sweet potato chewys so we'll see how she takes to those later on. I'll throw up the recipe sometime later! Her other hobbies include cuddling, playing with the other dog we are currently dog-sitting, and jumping all over her bed. She can be very clumsy and lazy too. She gets A LOT of sleep and a moderate amount of exercise. Willa doesn't love wearing clothes and accessories YET but I don't think she minds it. With some coaxing and a few treats, I guess it was bearable.

The breeder we got her from said she is of European descent, meaning she will be quite large compared to the American breeds. So we are totally looking forward to that and documenting her growth every step of the way as well. I'll try to continue to post milestone pictures so you can see her rapid growth too!

Here's to more poop.
