RE: adding Sourcefinder (with no WUs) to the whitelist and its effects
I was under the impression this would be added once work units were available. The lead researcher has stated that we may not see any WUs until late September, meaning there will be about 100k GRC handed out for no work until then (assuming the 48k/day mint target).
Lets remove it. This should be a common sense decision. Everyone who voted it in would have done so under the impression there would be WUs, so lets add it when there are WUs.
Who can remowe it? Do we need poll results for that? How long it will take???
Only Rob can remove it, but in this case it is probably fair to assume the community voted it in once there is work instead of having to repeat the poll process once to remove it, and then again to add it again.
I wonder how many thought like that.
There are also voices like this:
Was iFoggz aware of the issue with users getting free GRC when he posted that?
I ask, as at first I wasn't aware of the issue and therefore my first reaction was (from Discord):
"Not Happy someone has decided to place a poll to remove Sourcefinder
😡1
Seriously, we have a supportive project dev, we know a load of workunits are incoming in the next 2-3 weeks and the project will be ongoing into next year. It's HTTPS. What else do you want!?!"
I also voiced similar on IRC. When I realised the issue however I understood the need for some action, I just disagreed with the need for more votes.
I completly agree with this way of working, it appears we have uncovered a bug/feature which we can deal with in future (greylisting). In the meantime we should try and keep to the spirit of the vote result whilst keeping things fair for all users.
