Why Remove POEM@HOME From The Whitelist?

The POEM@HOME project is shutting down:
Dear POEM@HOME community, first of all we want to express our deepest gratitude for every contributor to our project. Last year we developed a GPU optimized version of SIMONA, which is used as part of POEM@HOME, which speeds up the calculations by various magnitudes. Due to this speedup it has been very hard for us to supply sufficient work to saturate our BOINC project. Therefore after eight years running, we have so much computational power that we do not require your large and generous contributions to conduct our science anymore. At the same time other, smaller and bigger projects require more computational power than ever.

Consequences of Keeping The Project in The Whitelist

Even after all the work units (WUs) have been completed, RAC will take some time to decay. While it decays (and since magnitude is based on RAC), crunchers still in the project will continue to earn GRC even though they're no longer crunching any WUs. To mitigate this and make it fair to the crunchers consuming resources on active projects, the project should be removed from the whitelist. As of this moment, the project has zero WUs available to send.

How can I vote?

Windows users:

• If your wallet is encrypted, fully unlock the wallet (not just for 'staking only').
• Click "Advanced", then click "Voting" to launch the voting menu.
• Right-click on "Should POEM be removed from the whitelist?"
• Click "vote".

Linux users:

QT Wallet:

• Fully unlock your wallet.

• Navigate to the Debug Console (Help - Debug Window - Console (tab) )

• Enter one of the following commands:

• Vote to remove POEM from the whitelist: execute vote remove_poem_from_whitelist yes

• Vote to keep POEM in the whitelist: execute vote remove_poem_from_whitelist no
  

  Terminal client:

• Fully unlock your wallet (not just for staking)

• Enter one of the following commands:

• Vote to remove POEM from the whitelist: gridcoinresearchd execute vote remove_poem_from_whitelist yes

• Vote to keep POEM in the whitelist: gridcoinresearchd execute vote remove_poem_from_whitelist no
