My "Datacenter" tour
Hello guys,
as many others here on Steemit, I crunch for Gridcoin too. My "Datacenter" is very small and still needs a lot of improvement. For one, a proper 19" Rack is required, next a gigabit switch, then a KVM will be useful, but it has to wait for a while.
Below you can see the actual "Rack". From top to bottom I have:
R610
2x E5620 [email protected]
24GB DDR3 ECC
1x 146GB SAS 15k RPM HDD
R710
2x X5650 [email protected]
32GB DDR3 ECC
1x 146GB SAS 15k RPM HDD
R710
1x X5550 [email protected]
12GB DDR3 ECC
16GB USB drive(does not have the SAS controller and did not bothered to buy one yet)
R810
2x E6540 [email protected]
32GB DDR3 ECC
1x 146GB SAS 15k RPM HDD
But enough with talking. It is said that am image is worth 1000words, so here you go.
Below is the exhaust of hot air and the intake of cold air from outside.
And here is a small shelf with 2 boxes for screws and misc stuff. The black thing on the wall is a clock with temperature and humidity measurement.
Thank you for following me to the end. Here is a beautiful potato "computing cluster".
Cool, thanks for sharing!
PS. What RAC you get on potato-puter?
Well, I do not know. A friend of mine owns it. About 3 months ago he doubled his CPU count, adding another 40kg of the latest generation extreme red potato chips. He is using it for FEA in aerospace industry.
Cool setup! All you do on these is Boinc or are you running a Homelab of sorts? I have a couple of HP DL380 G7s from work but they are mainly running Homelab stuff instead of boincing, but atleast 10 of the cores are being used for Boinc/Gridcoin.
Its also nice having the GRC Wallet safe and running 24/7 on enterprise grade hardware over a standard desktop :D
Hello, at the moment they all run BOINC, but I will use them for swarm AI simulations. At the time I do not have time for that.
