New Official Gridcoin Snapshot - Update is Strongly Encouraged.

in #gridcoin7 years ago (edited)

While the Devs put finishing touches on a wallet update that is going to help solve the recent forkapalooza, a new official snapshot has been generated.

The new official snapshot has been uploaded to gridcoin.us. Please use that snapshot to sync your clients.

You can access the link from gridcoin.us. by clicking through the guides, or linked here.

Or within the wallet you can click ADVANCED >> DOWNLOAD BLOCKS.

Good policy means you should....

  1. Backup your wallets (always and often!)
  2. Close/terminate your wallet
  3. Backup the existing blockfiles from your gridcoin folder (typically %appdata%/gridcoinresearch in Windows or ~/.GridcoinResearch in many Linux distro's).
  4. Unzip the new snapshot into the gridcoinresearch directory.
  5. Restart your wallet.

I will add that those of you that know how to clone or pull from git and build your own wallet can do so from https://github.com/gridcoin/Gridcoin-Research.git. Use master, or even better the 3.7.7.0 tag release. Builds for Windows and various Linux flavors should be coming within the next 24 hours.

Thanks for working on resolving those issues!

I was able to get the snapshot correctly using the Download blocks command from the new client v 3.7.7.0, it's all in sync for the past 3-4 hrs.
Thanks for the great work!

Does anyone know the block number and hash value of the last block in the snapshot?
I guess it isn't worth downloading the snapshot if my wallet is already on the same chain at the most recent block.

Snapshot was helpful. Thank You
