The fall of Civic-Nationalism and the rise of Ethno-Nationalism

in #groypers5 years ago

The Groypers (ethno-nationalists) have been on the rise, and now have ample base in the UK for operational movements. Their views will continuously seep into the mainstream media, as their tactics are fine tuned.

Civic-nationalism cannot adequately function when it is "one rule for me, another for thee" based on things such as skin colour;
for example, racist Muslim rape gangs cannot be defined as being racist or their crimes as being racially motivated despite their racial profiling and hatred towards the white girls because of their white skin, as the laws in this country do not recognize racism towards whites.
Institutions such as the police and fire services actively discriminate against whites when hiring. The BBC has non-whites only jobs. Brown people can be actively homophobic or misogynistic with no recourse. Rapists and murderers are prevented from being deported because they are not white. Etc etc.

Civic-nationalism is dependent on cooperation based on reciprocity. This type of cooperation is fragile, and only about 10,000 years old and requires high-level thinking, such as seeing people beyond skin colours. When this fails we fall back to gene based cooperation, which is hundreds of millions of years old, or towards tribalistic groups.

I have not encountered any fascistic aspects to groyper movements. Such as forcible suppression of opposition, or desire for a totalitarian state.
They just seem to want to voice their opinions and views equally and let the country decide. They agree with the likes of the Dali Lama that "Europe belongs to the Europeans", and that all peoples have a right to their homelands. I'm not too familiar with USA Groypers, only English/British Ethno-nationalists.

If anything the mainstream media is fascistic with its forcible suppression of dissenting voices, such as towards the groypers.

In the U.S. at least, groypers is associated with Nicholas Fuentes who identifies with the “Catholic fascism” of Franco’s Falange, anti-immigration and anti-gay elements of the alt-right. Maybe there are different connotations in Europe?

Yeah, everything is different in every country, across Europe included.
Our media is often tainted/brushed with Americo-centric view of the world, so lots of people go on about the rise of nazis and racists in the UK for example, despite us being probably the least racist place in the world, with maybe less than 100 Nazis in total out of a population of 70 million.
I might be conflating/equivocating the word Groyper with the ethno-nationalism over here, or it just has different connotations. Some British Ethno-nationalists refer to themselves as alt-right when they mean alternative to mainstream right, as opposed to neo-nazis; (As the Conservative isn't really Conservative for example.)
Ethno-nationalism doesn't really make sense to me in regards to the USA, but I can understand wanting to protect/conserve the culture from things like rapid demographic changes driven by mass influx of people from other cultures, leaving no room for integration.
