First time shooting.

I believe that I speak for most people when I say that the first time you ever shoot a gun is memorable. For some it was at a young age, others discovered the sport much later in life. Mine starts with a Browning Lever action .22lr. It was mid summer out in the forest, my father pulled out his first gun, the browning, and loaded it for me to shoot. I won't lie I was nervous, the media loves to paint guns as incredibly dangerous. I was shaking even before pulling the trigger. I wasn't some glorious shot, I missed the target from twenty yards. But the feel of the gun, the smell of the gun smoke and the sound of the bullet make this so memorable. And just like that all of my nervousness was gone. I have no idea how many rounds I fired that day, but I was hooked. A few months later I took the course to get licensed to own a firearm and have spent a good number of hours at the firing range. I have experienced firing more firearms sense then. Everybody who has fired a gun has stories to tell, guns are not evil creations that need to be locked away forever. Many memories have been created with only a shotgun and box of shells. And I know that they will continue to be made year after year. These stories need to be shared. There is too much fear associated with guns, and the stories about childhood memories have been lost. Instead replaced with stories of gun violence and ruined lives. These media stories do not reflect what this sport means to so many people. So please share you stories, the first time you fired a gun, the times you spent in the forest enjoying nature and shooting through a box of shell or rounds with people close to you. People need to hear the other opinion, the content that you don't see on the evening news.
