Helping The Boy Child Develop Cognitive Abilities
”Every boy should grow up to become a man of honor and integrity and be able to contribute in a vital way to his family, his community, his nation and be able to make the world a better place for boys and girls everywhere.”
ABOUT HADASSAH PHOTOSTORIE
Hadassah Photostorie is a visual story telling company in Nigeria for children that sets arts skillfully to showcase creativity in the natural way, also holds on to family core values and celebrate cultures in every image we capture. Thereby preserving a child’s memoirs that will be cherished forever to constantly remind the African child what they stand for.
The future of the world depends greatly on the kind of attention and education we give the coming generation. It's for this reason that special days are to set the spotlight of children. One of such days is the International Boys’ Day which has been set aside to put a spotlight on the boy child and celebrate and educate him for the future.
International Boys’ Day celebrates all the positive elements that boys bring to their families and communities. It also highlights the issues and challenges that boys face as they develop.
Current research shows that boys:
• Are 50 % more likely to fail meeting basic proficiency standards in reading than girls.
• Are 100% more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) compared to girls.
• Are more likely to be the victims of violent crime.
• Are severely behind girls in school grades. Boys take 70% of D’s and Failed grades.
• Suicide rate is four times higher than girls.
• Are 5 times more likely to end up in juvenile detention.
International Boys Day founder Dr Jerome Teelucksingh from Trinidad in the Caribbean, who also founded International Men Day said: “There is an urgent need to focus on the home and school as we save the boy child. If a boy child is neglected or fed a diet of hate and violence it is obvious he will develop into a teenager who is misguided and confused. And the next crucial transition into manhood will be even more difficult”.
At Hadassah Photostorie, our way of celebrating the boy child is through an initiative called “Helping the boy child develop cognitive abilities” whereby we document the life of a promising boy child and then solicit empowerment for him financially, mentally and intellectually.
We thereby seek your support to create awareness about the International Boys Child Day and also in kind and funds.
