St Pancras Station London (Kings Cross) - Harry Potter Platform 9 & 3/4
If you are in london, then you MUST visit St Pancras International Station, in Kings Cross, London.
Whether you like Harry Potter or not, its an AMAZING building with Gothic Architecture.
Built in the 1860's, it is almost 160 years old.
There are actually TWO stations right next to each other.
St Pancras International Station. (Beautiful red brick architecture, but modern platforms).
Kings Cross Station. (Basic exterior, but old platforms).
These two photos are St. Pancras International. So please go outside and look at the amazing detail of this building.
Anyone who has seen Harry Potter will instantly recognise this station exterior.
Inside St Pancras they have made a tourist area to take photos or 'track 9 and 3/4'. (see photo below).
But, this is NOT the real location of the platform in the movie.
Its just a nice place to take some photos..
You may as well visit the Harry potter merchandise shop next door ;)
But:
If you want to visit the REAL train platform (just like the movie), then you need to walk to the next station (just 3 or 4 minutes walk) to Kings Cross Station.
When you are in Kings Cross, walk directly on to the platforms. You can see which ones have the 'arches'. (just like the movie photo below):
Actually:
In the movie they made the arch more wide (to fit the size of a trolley).
So you need to use your imagination a tiny bit.
But this is exactly where it really happened ;)
Really, Every tourist should visit St Pancras. Just because the building (exterior) is so nice.
If you like Harry Potter, then its a bonus ;)
