We've been playing this game for the past 2 weeks and watching the Dev Team roll out a steady stream of small updates.

Still in really early stages, but the creators have an interesting concept and vision of where they're going to take this game. Think Farmville meats Dope Wars! It's only a matter of time before this game becomes a real hit among cannabis enthusiasts and gamers alike. We sat down with @qwoyn to find out more about this promising project.

INTERVIEW

📣 Tell us a little about yourself and your role with the project?

My name is Daniel Pittman aka @qwoyn, I am the creator of Hashkings. I have been actively involved in blockchain since 2013 and have been developing smart contracts on Ethereum for the last 2 years. I started mining Bitcoin in 2013 using Bitmain Antiminers. In 2017 I was GPU mining and in early 2018 I started mining SIA coin using the Bitmain SIA mining rigs.

I created my first smart contract on Ethereum in 2017 called Qwoyn (pronounced: coin) an erc20 token contract. I’ve written multiple erc721 (non-fungible token) contracts on both the Ethereum(ETH) and Ethereum Classic(ETC) chains. The first erc721 contract I wrote was called Document a documentation contract that allows users to record any data in to a token on ETH and ETC. My second venture with erc721 was called dAppCaps, a blockchain clone of the infamous game Pogs. My third erc721 contract is Hashkings, the virtual cannabis farm and the subject of this post.

📣 How did you get into game development?

I got into game development as the next logical step in Blockchain Technology. As mentioned earlier, I created my first game in 2018 and haven’t stopped since. I’ve been a gamer my entire life so really it just made sense that I would be using this tech to create games.

📣 Who else is on the project team with you?

The Hashkings team is made up of three developers @jrawsthorne, @disregardfiat (from the dlux team) and me @qwoyn. J and I work on the front end and @disregardfiat is the genius behind the Hashkings api and backend.

📣 What are some of your influences for HaskKings, and what made you want to make a cannabis farming game?

Some of my influences for Hashkings are games such as Farmville and DopeWars. Creating a cannabis game was a no-brainer for me because I have over 20 years of experience in the cannabis industry, this includes and is not limited to, cultivation and processing. Short and sweet, one day my friends and I were discussing how we could utilize Blockchain Technology in other games. Suddenly, I thought, “What if we create a cannabis game?” and the rest is history.

📣 Can you tell us about your vision for the game play? Give us a sense of what's on the road map in terms of playable features down the road.

My main vision for Hashkings is to give Steemians a different way of interacting with the STEEM blockchain. This is done by performing actions such as planting seeds and watering. Users delegate STEEM Power to Hashkings in order to obtain a plot of land, then purchase seeds from our seedbank or other users and plant them on their land. Hashkings farmers then water their plants and watch them grow up to mature budding cannabis plants.

We are currently working on the grow shop which allows users to purchase nutrients, ph meters and soil supplements etc... using our in-game currency called Kief Token (KFQ), now available to be traded on Steem-Engine. In the future, the use of nutrients and following a strict regiment will determine the outcome of your plants and seeds. If users follow the grow guides perfectly, they will receive top shelf seeds. These seeds allow for a larger harvests and different phenotypes which may include characteristics such as purple buds. We will also allow the use of Kief boxes to obtain the KFQ just like staking. Once all the features mentioned are implemented, we will begin working on the Virtual Reality version of Hashkings on the DLUX platform.

📣 Steemians tend to be interested in earning from crypto games. Some play for fun or to compete, some for earning. Is there a system to earn and how will it work?

Hashkings has a built-in mechanism for earning STEEM in-game. Users delegate SP to the Hashkings account and purchase seeds with STEEM. When users purchase seeds 95% of the STEEM received by Hashkings gets powered up. This increases the overall STEEM Power of the Hashkings account. We then upvote using this SP and split the curation rewards with the users who are actively playing. If a user receives Kudos, they get a portion of the curation through beneficiary rewards. Kudos are obtained by properly watering daily. In the future, users will be able to stake their KFQ on Steem-Engine in order to receive KFQ rewards.

📣 Anything else you wish to tell us?

One thing I would like to mention is that KFQ is free and gained through bounties and airdrops, Hashkings is not selling any of the tokens! We have set aside a developer fund which we will use to pay ourselves. Users do have the ability to purchase available tokens on the Steem-Engine market from other users but should keep an eye out for bounties and airdrops in the coming weeks.
