What Happens when there is nothing left to hate?

Storytime: Once upon a time there was a an injustice upon the whosits by the whatsits. The whatsits built a widget which was a wonderful thing but unfortunately the production of the widget created many bad situations for the whosits. Overtime the whatsits built a memorial to the widget due to it's historical relavance to society. In time the whatsits understood that their fathers were wrong to create the widgets at the expense of the whosits.
The whosits hated the memorial to the widgets and they demanded that it be torn down and futhermore that any other memorials to widget like things should also be torn down. Through much presure from the whosits the whatsits gave in and soon there were no more memorials to widget like things. In time both the whosits and whatsits forgot about widget like things and widgets were lost to the history of society.
It was at that time that the whosits invented a widget like thing, but they didn't know the dangers of widgets anymore because all memory had been lost of them. And so this time around it was the whatsits who suffered from the production of the widget like things.
There was however two old friends. One was a whosit and one a whatsit. They remembered the widget like things and the memorials which had been destroyed. In their wisdom they both understood that another memorial should be built to the widget like things. Many were opposed for they said, "Why should something which caused such injustice for the whosits and the whatsits be given honor and memorialized?" The one elder replied, "Because without the object to remember the injustice..." and his friend finished the sentence, "...you will continue to suffer the same injustice in every generation."
