RE: Hawaii residents can use Uphold to buy Bitcoin and Ethereum cryptos
I am not comfortable using any cash to buy BTC in Hawaii or in any country. You would have to know the person that you are buying the BTC from, otherwise you could be easily robbed. I have read that you can do a cash exchange using LocalBitcoins.com but that going rates are usually 10% or more than what is posted on most exchanges. I have also read that there have been people who were arrested for engaging in running an unlicensed currency exchange service by exchanging cash for BTC. So, I would be very cautious.
Found a way around it - make a new account w different email address
selecting Minor outlying US islands as state
you can still purchase on coinbase using a debit or credit card
Then transfer out of coinbase to a safer wallet
Nice to see other Hawaii peeps using bitcoin. Aloha!
what to do about "address" info?
You can also create a Western Union account which has its bank location on the mainland. You can use the debit card they provide in Coinbase.
That still works for Hawaii ppl? Just set up account as minor outlying island as state and the address how to handle that? My debit card is Hawaii first Hawaiian so are they still gonna denied? How about the verification process still gotta go through that sorry brah i asking plenty kine stuff
