Hawaii' Financial Woes Solved
Waikiki is known the world over as a destination that promises a tropical climate and a travelers experience that many only fantasize about. It isnt thought that all the stories from Hawaii 5-0 are based on reality. That perhaps you may drunkenly stumble across a dead body laying on the sidewalk outside a bar. Behind Waikiki's bustling tourist trade hides a truth that Hawaii politicians have been strugling with for decades. The problem lies a few miles from the pristine shorelines of Oahu at the political heart of the Islands in the city of Honolulu. Mismanagement of resources and corruption plague this State on all levels. From the now indicted former Honolulu police chief Louis Kealoha to the Ex mayors and goveners making shady deals with developers for a rail project that is billions of dolars over budget to the state workers that sleeps on the job with 10 of their coworkers while one person does the work. All of these examples are true happenings that point towards an underlying corruption that has sickened the hearts of the locals and weakend the spirit of aloha. This dis-ease and abuse of power has caused a rift in the people and has allowed a lifestyle of poverty, homelessness and drug abuse to flourish. Instead of doing whats right for the island and its people the politicians decide to look out for themselves using a culture of nepotism to ensure favorable positions in various industries and seats of power like board members of prestigious private schools or trusts and even local Unions. The whole system is run very much like the Italian Mafia with different leaders from different backgrounds using their influence or power to manuever around laws or to to even put new ones in place to not disrupt their status quo.
Now that you have a bit of background dear reader I present a solution.
Legal weed. Thats right Pakalolo. With the peoples opinions nationwide becoming more favorable to legal Cannabis its only right that we get in on it. Im gonna get a little moke(Hawaiian beligerant rymes with poke).
1st. Legalize it
2nd. Tax dat shit
3rd. Use da taxes to pay fo better shit faka no make.
Now for the more detailed and concise plan that outlines the clear benefits for the entire state.
According to the Hawaii Tourism Authority(which Im sure is filled with realatives of people in high places) tourism accounted for $1,000,000,000 in taxes for the state. About 220,000 tourists in the state per day year round. Thats a lot of extra income potential. The numbers dont lie. Jut a quick search of the stats from legal states will show that the income from this crop is phenomenal. I think the funds ought to be allocated like this.
1st: Pay all 1st responders $70 an hour and raise the penalties for abuse of power or authority to termination of the job and losing all benefits. This will ensure quality people that are well compensated for their efforts.
2nd: Start a campaign that pays teachers $30 to $50 an hour with a housing guarantee so that the best teachers in the entire world will compete to be a part of this program.
3rd:Setup a state funded transitonal facility for the homeless and drug addicted to get clean and learn real world skills and trades.
4th:Free transportation for all Hawaii residents
5th:Free school meals for all students and faculty
6th:Upgrade the roads with concrete so that they dont have to be repaved after every heavy rain
7th:Pay for the rail fiasco
By just doing the one act of legalizing marijuana and taxing it the funds will be available to allocate for all of those projects named and the resulting outcome from that would cut back on all the issues that make Hawaii a little less special. Mahalo and Aloha for reading.
