Eating vegetables provides health benefits - people who eat more fruits and vegetables as part of an overall healthy diet are likely to have a reduced risk of some chronic diseases. Vegetables provide nutrients vital for health and maintenance of your body.

Tomatoes are the major dietary source of the antioxidant lycopene, which has been linked to many health benefits, including reduced risk of heart disease and cancer. They are also a great source of vitamin C, potassium, folate and vitamin

The wonderful health benefits of eggplants are primarily derived from their vitamin, mineral, and nutrient content. Eggplants are a rich source of vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin B6, thiamine, niacin, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, dietary fiber, folic acid, potassium, and manganese. They also contain almost no cholesterol or saturated fat.

A year ago when my family moved into our current house, we got so excited because it had a small 10 sqm of barren lot. My husband and I immediately thought of gardening, but didn't quite agree which kinds to plant: being the practical one, he wanted vegetables 🌿, while i wanted flowers 🌸 because they're pretty.

Well, because I got busy juggling my jobs, theater and my business, he got to start the urban gardening project. He won this time. 😁😂

Thanks to his initiative, he planted some vegetables (okras and tomatoes), which we were able to harvest 5 okras at least every other day, we ate them almost every meal; however, the tomatoes died because of pests. 🐛😭 What's worse, later the okras have passed their fruit-giving period. TBH, we lost our interest in planting. 😥😫

After a few months, we decided to take care of the garden again and my father Antonio Racaza helped to attend to the new eggplants, and replanted tomatoes. 🌱

Amazingly now, we harvest at least 4 eggplants a week, 🍆🍆 🍆 🍆 which we then cook with eggs (tortang talong, 🍳 YUM!), while the tomatoes look hopeful they'd be ripe anytime soon! 🍅 🍅 🍅

You see, gardening can be challenging and require time and effort, the right climate, the right season, and sometimes the soil needed to breathe and rest to recharge its nutrients, especially in the very limited space in the city.
But the time will come you'd harvest what you've planted.

Just like in life, there will be a time you'd be excited, then saturate your interest and energy, even "pests" or trials would come along, then you'd eventually give up. All you need is to take life in another perspective, recharge your energy, then soon enough you'll bloom! Make a goal plan and continue learning. As they say, you reap what you sow! So plant a seed now! 💪🌱🌿
