Most of the incidence of diarrhea in children is caused by a viral infection, not due to a bacterial infection so that most cases of diarrhea in children do not require antibiotic drugs except diarrhea that occurs in children with blood mucus (dysentery), typhoid, cholera, or other diarrhea that is clearly known the cause is a bacterial infection.

The principle of the main treatment for child diarrhea is to prevent dehydration, so usually giving ORS is recommended according to the severity of dehydration and the age of the child.

Zinc supplementation is also important when diarrhea occurs in children to shorten the duration of diarrhea and prevent the recurrence of diarrhea.

Giving anti-fever drugs such as paracetamol if needed.

Keep continuing breastfeeding and MPASI as usual

Another important thing is to keep an eye on children, watch for signs of dehydration (sunken eyes, children look restless, limp, children seem thirsty constantly / want to drink continuously or even do not want to drink because it is too weak, mucous membranes in the dry mouth, crying but tears do not come out , urinating a little or urinating does not come out at all, if the skin of the abdomen is pinched the skin is slow again, if the crown of the child is palpable to appear / feel concave) please immediately bring it to the doctor.
