Someone asked me

Good afternoon Mrs.Maria, I want to ask. How many months can HIV be formed and can be known with certainty and accuracy? My question is related to the following: a week ago I used the services of a PSK because honestly it did not stand and work away from my wife, after ejaculation I checked my condom was torn because it had long expired. Like the PSK hiv +. Can my HIV status be known within 1 month after the last ml? And is that accurate?

Answer from me

To make sure you are infected with HIV or not need to do a screening test for HIV, and screening can be done by taking blood or urine samples in patients. The following examination or screening can be done to find out HIV infection, namely:

  • Antibody test: This test is done to determine the presence of antibodies or your body's immune system to the HIV virus. If you are infected with HIV, this test will give positive results. This test includes an akura test, and can usually be detected at 3-12 weeks because it requires a high amount of antibody in the body to be detected. Therefore, the most vepar antibody test was detected 3 weeks after infection. If the time of infection is assumed when you have risky sexual intercourse, within 1 month if you have an infection, the infection is generally detected. But this time can be different for each person.

  • Antigen test: the antigen test aims to detect p24, a protein that is part of the HIV virus. An antigen test can be done 2-6 weeks after the patient is infected.

If the screening results are positive, the doctor will usually suggest a series of other examinations. The examination aims to see the level of infection and the spread of the virus in the body and can determine the right type or method of treatment.

One way of transmitting HIV infection is by transmission through risky sexual relations, or if you have sexual relations with people who suffer from HIV or PLWHA (People with HIV-AIDS) the risk of contracting will be even higher. But not all who have sexual relations with PLWHA can be infected. The following are various factors that can increase the risk of contracting, namely:

  • Having sexual intercourse without using security such as Kodom

  • There are lesions or sores on the genital area

  • Having sexual intercourse with a patient experiencing advanced HIV

  • Having sex with people who have sexually transmitted diseases (STIs)

  • If PLHIV does not take HIV drugs, the risk of contracting will be even higher.

To do the test should be done in a trusted laboratory or hospital, and consult the HIV screening test to the doctor.
