Fever and joint pain? Perhaps, you have sarcoma
Sarcoma is not a cancer. In some cases, it is even worse. This type of malignant tumor is very aggressive, quickly metastasized and difficult to diagnose. The deal is that sarcoma often manifests itself with the signs specific to usual “harmless” diseases, and people postpone their visit to a doctor because they don’t even suppose that something bad can happen to them.
Always get a second opinion
13-years girl Irina had been suffering from fever for 2 years. Her parents thought that it was a sign of ARVI, consulted doctors frequently, but they couldn't find a real reason. After a while Irina got used to this state and continued her studies at school. Soon she noticed a pain in a shoulder, and turned to the hospital for help. The doctors didn’t pay much attention to this case and established a diagnosis of arthritis.
Irina was taking medication and undergoing prescribed therapies (massages, electrophoresis) but kept getting worse day by day… Until parents found a specialists who suspected a tumor. After a biopsy she was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma. Irina had been undergoing cycles of chemotherapy for over 1 year, the prognosis was good. She believed in her recovery, seemed very optimistic and didn’t think about bed end. She even fell in love with a boy who had the same diagnosis... But then the metastases were detected in other organs and, sadly, she passed after a while.
This story didn’t get a happy ending like other similar ones. And the reason is simple: the diagnosis wasn’t established in time.
Is there anything we can do? Everyone needs to be attentive to their health and the health of their close ones especially when a real reason of health disorder can’t be detected. Don’t hesitate seek help and the best sarcoma treatment centers to establish 100%-accurate diagnosis and undergo the most effective treatment. Who knows, maybe it will help save somebody’s life.
You should start worrying, if
There are several signs of sarcoma which must be put on the alert:
- long-term hyperthermia: slightly more than 37°С. It is a signal of an inflammation in the organism;
- weight and appetite loss;
- bone pain (for Ewing’s sarcoma, osteosarcoma) which becomes stronger at night;
- tiredness, weakness, and depression;
- anemia;
- headache, faint.
These symptoms are not always related to sarcoma. Most likely, this diagnosis won’t even be confirmed because sarcoma is quite a rare disease. But presence of any of these symptoms is a reason to visit a qualified doctor.
