8 Reasons Why You Need More Water in Your Life
Water is one of the most important needs, unlike food, our bodies can only function a few days without it. The human body is roughly 60-80% water and it requires a minimum of 2.2 liters of water daily to function properly, which is roughly about 8-10 glasses a day.
Here are 8 reasons why you should be drinking more water:
1. Weight Loss
Water is a great appetite suppressor! It also assists in boosting your metabolism and cleanses your body of waste products. By drinking more water you actually retain less because your body doesn’t have to hold on to it, allowing you drop a few extra kilos of water weight
2. Boosts Immune System
Water helps in the production of lymph. Lymph is what circulates your white blood cells and helps carry nutrients to all parts of your body. Without it, your white blood cells and other important immune cells are unable to travel through the body and combat diseases.
3. Boosts Energy Levels And Relieves Fatigue:
The body is made up of 60-80% water meaning it is needed for all organs to function at their best. Dehydration, even at minuscule levels can lead to the slowing down of various body functions, leaving you feeling tired, slow and easily irritable. When you are hydrated, you can focus, think and concentrate better.
4. Aids Digestion:
Water assists in breaking down your food making it easier to digest and absorb necessary nutrients. It helps soften your stools which can also help avoid constipation.
5. Improves Skin Complexion:
If your skin is not receiving enough water, dehydration will present itself by turning your skin dry, tight and flaky. Dry skin means less resilience and more susceptible to wrinkles. Your skin is an organ and just like your other organs, if it does not receive enough water it will not function at its optimum. Water moisturizes the skin and keeps it soft glowing and fresh. It also helps free your body of toxins.
6. Headache Remedy:
Water can act as a remedy to all headaches. In regards to tension- type headaches, fatigue can play a vital role. Fatigue is a common consequence of dehydration. So, if dehydration contributes to fatigue and fatigue contributes to headaches, then begin by treating the fatigue by drinking more! Remember our brain is made from 75% water.
7. Prevents Bone Loss:
All cellular functions, including bone remodeling, require water. When sufficient levels have not been met, the body goes into a state of dehydration, and sometimes you don’t even realize. In response to this, our endocrine system begins to secrete more cortisol and other stress hormones into the body. These hormones will accelerate bone loss.
8. Saves money:
If you are always fueled with a bottle, that means fewer visits to the convenience store, no more combo deals (as its extra for drinks) and as mentioned above you eat less :)
