Why you should replace coconut oil with healthier fats
Coconut oil is really healthy
"Reality is when you look at what coconut oil is made of, 80 percent of it is saturated fat and that's similar to butter which is about 60 percent saturated fat or beef fat which is about 40 percent," Narula told "CBS This Morning." "Saturated fat raises the LDL or the 'bad' cholesterol so coconut oil is going to have that same effect as butter and beef fat."
The myth is that saturated fats are bad for you (as far as I'm aware).
Meaning that coconut oil is actually healthy.
Same as "eggs are high in cholesterol = bad" appears to be false also.
I haven't got any sources at my disposal, but please look into why things like Coconut and Avocado oil are now being said to be healthier then Vegetable, Safflower and Canola oil.
Corn oil is GMO and to be avoided, and so is Canola oil. Avocado oil is good too.( good for frying as is coconut oil as does not spoil at high temp , like olive oil. ( olive oil best raw, not fried)
I'm not anti GMO anymore (I used to be) but I wouldn't even touch non GMO and/or Organic Canola oil anymore after reading up about it.
Avacado, Coconut and Olive are the healthy oils for me. (Maybe Flax too, but I'm not 100% sold on it).
I'm sorry but this is wrong, saturated fats are not bad for you. This is a common misconception. Coconut oil is around 70% Medium Chain Triglycerides, which is very beneficial to your brain and body.
YES YES ! true
Coconut oil has many uses other than eating of it. I for one use it as sunscreen and spider repellant. It is also great on skin for inflammation in muscles.
what replacement should one use ?
Saturated fat the body and brain needs ! ... coconut oil as you say at top of your article ((( IS 'REALLY HEALTHY' for you )))
And so is grass fed butter for that matter !
The notion that all saturated fat is bad for you is a very old school thinking and has been DEBUNKED !
What is bad for you is - trans fats, hydrogenated vegetable oils, sugar, refined processed carbs, too much omega 6 's in the diet and not enough omega 3's which leads to inflammation in the body, not mention of course GMO foods and non organic pesticide laden foods which cause all sorts of problems.
