Working from home is great, but many people get so caught up in their busy work schedules that they end up falling into unhealthy habits. Over time, these habits can have a negative impact on one's health. Weight gain, stress, and lack of exercise are just a few things to mention. Here are some simple tips to help make working from home healthier and easier:

Prepare a veggie and/or fruit tray before you start your day of work. Keep your refrigerator stocked with plenty of fruits and vegetables throughout your week. Taking a few minutes each day to cut and prepare fruits & vegetables can help eliminate the temptation of grabbing a bag of chips or cookies when you are busy.

Keep any distractions away from your office or workspace. Children and pets can make your work day much tougher than it needs to be. If you have small children, try to plan as much work as possible during their nap time or when someone else is around to watch them. If your pets seek a lot of attention and are noisy, try confining them to a room in the house away from your workspace. Don’t answer personal phone calls, it can quickly take time away from a productive workday. Not only can a noisy office result in low quality work, it adds a lot of unnecessary stress.

Make sure you take time for breaks. Taking several small breaks during your work day is a must. Walking your dog around the block, jogging, or vacuuming is a great way to add in some exercise during your busy workday. Make sure you take time to eat a healthy lunch and snacks as needed.

Don’t drink too much coffee. Drinking more than two cups of coffee a day can cause one to be erratic, nervous, jittery, and irritable. Prolonged over drinking of coffee and other caffeinated drinks can cause serious conditions such as osteoporosis, hallucinations, muscle spasms, and increased heart rates.

Keep your workspace clean and organized. Maintaining a clean and organized office is very important. A messy desk with misplaced notes and papers delays the progress of a productive workday. Keeping papers filed and maintaining a daily calendar allows for a successful work schedule.

Eating healthy, keeping active, and staying organized is essential for producing high-quality work and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. By making a few of these simple changes, you can increase your chances of having both a healthy body and successful business!
