THE PILLARS OF HEALTH

in #health7 years ago (edited)

You do these four things in the quality of your life will dramatically improve. I learned these 24 years ago when I was almost killed in a severe bike accident in which I broke my back and suffered a skull fracture. It amazes me that most Americans don't even do one of these things.

  1. Program design. You want to have a fitness program that's oriented around functional training that will help you maintain muscle mass, stabilizer strength, balance, reaction time, and and coordination. Go back and look at my other videos on functional training they are important to overall health. All the top professional sports teams have strength training programs oriented around functional training. There was a revolution in the early 90s three professional football teams started training her athletes functionally as opposed to old school heavy linear lifting. All three teams made it to the playoffs and two of the teams were in the Super Bowl. Next year every professional football team at functional training as the backbone of their strength training program. Anything that improves your core strength, your balance, and reaction time is going to help in any sport that you're involved in. I also tell all my clients do you want to improve your reaction time. If you can react quicker you're less likely to be injured and less likely to be in a car accident. So train functionally it's very important.

  2. Dietary intake. This is actually more important then your training program. You need to eat as plant-based as possible. Way back in the day Jack LaLanne came out and said sugar is awful and it needs to be avoided at all costs, he was way ahead of his time. Sugar is very inflammatory. If you're going to have a smoothie have a green smoothie. Use 80 to 90% greens and only 20 to 10% fruit. We really are what we eat in the typical American diet is killing us. Stay away from processed foods and eat as non-processed as organic as vegetarian as possible. I guarantee you'll feel better look better and you'll reap the benefits of your functional training program.

  3. Connection to the universe. This means religion, spirituality, family, friends., etc. Whatever floats your boat.... stay connected to the energy of the universe. I am absolutely convinced that there is a power greater than me out there because I have plugged into that power. When you do it gives you unlimited strength and courage in any situation that you encounter.

  4. Balance. That means if you over eat, over work, over drink, over work out, you need to address these issues. Balance is so important. If these are severe problems I encourage my clients to seek professional help to bring balance to your life without balance, your life force will be dramatically decreased and the aging process will dramatically increase.
