in #health7 years ago

Platelet-rich plasma or PRP is one of the most advanced treatments available in platelet-rich plasma facial rejuvenation. It is ideal for those cases in which you want to improve the appearance of the skin, increase its firmness and brightness. It has a very intense rejuvenating and stimulating cellular effect. It is a last technique incorporated without risks, which allows to stimulate fibroblasts and elastin to soften wrinkles.

What is platelet-rich plasma?

Platelets release the growth factors that are primarily responsible for stimulating cell regeneration, increasing the formation of new blood vessels and producing new tissue. In other words, they activate the organism in the area where they are released, helping to reconstruct the damaged tissue, a repairing effect that is used to rejuvenate the skin.

One of the growth factors, called "epidermal growth factor", was the first to be isolated: it stimulates angiogenesis and increases the thickness of the skin, restoring its elasticity and firmness, it also increases the vascularization of the area where it is applied, favouring the appearance of new skin, decreasing the effects on it of cellular oxidation and eliminating wrinkles. Today, the magnificent results obtained with its application to accelerate the healing of burns, treat keloids, acne and stretch marks, improve the results of all types of treatments (including surgical), promote the consolidation of skin grafts, as well as post-peel application or as a basic treatment incorporated into cosmetics, continue to amaze experts.

It is a natural and physiological treatment that uses our body's own proteins, selected and concentrated, to repair the damage caused by the passage of time or sun damage. As it is a product obtained from the patient himself we have no risk of allergies or intolerances to it.

How is platelet-rich plasma rejuvenation treatment performed?

It is an outpatient treatment that is performed at the office. After cleaning and preparation of the area to be treated, an anesthetic cream is applied. The patient's own blood is drawn, from which platelet-rich plasma is obtained after being subjected to a centrifuge and activated. Once prepared, it will be applied through multipuncture with a very fine needle, in the form of mesotherapy.

The number of sessions will depend on the skin condition of each patient. The proposal is usually made in 3 sessions per month. After the year, maintenance should be carried out in one session every 6 or 12 months. The growth factors of platelet-rich plasma have to act by stimulating tissue, so there is no instantaneous result. Effects appear with the passage of time and increase as days go by. The effect is maximal after 20/30 days after treatment.
