Let's talk about hacking your biology today to speed up how fast intermittent fasting works for you. Here is a list of 5 things you can start doing today to speed up the process:
Potassium: This is the most important mineral in fixing an insulin problem. Insulin is behind weight issue, cognitive function, memory issues, cardiovascular issues. If you fix insulin you will speed up intermittent fasting results. The body actually needs about 4700mg per day. How do you get that much? Eating huge salads, and even supplementing to get more potassium.
Get Adequate Sleep: If you aren't getting enough sleep, or you're stressed you get more hungry. A hormone called cortisol goes up. This will in turn raise insulin levels. Make sure you getting 7-8 hours of sleep everyday. Also try to drastically reduce your stress levels by meditating, journaling, walking, etc.
High Intensity Interval Training: Get your heart rate up for a short duration and do it in intervals. This combined with intermittent fasting increases growth hormone, anti-aging, and fat burning. Get lots of rest, do this between 2-4 times a week for the best results.
Overeating or binge eating: Sometimes we do this when fasting because we get so hungry. The key is to get ample fat in each of our 2 meals to keep us full and satisfied. Do not overeat or binge eat because it can really hinder your progress and slow your fat burning down. Eat within a 4-6 hour window have a big salad with good fats.
Start gradual and ramp it up: If you have blood sugar issues, etc. this will be hard on your body until you are fully adapted to fat burning. I recommend 3 meals per day with no snacks in between until you can get it down to 2 meals a day with full intermittent fasting. Eventually getting all your meals within a 4 hour window.
