I concur. Whoever came up with that stupid platitude obviously has never been abducted, held at gunpoint and a number of other things. You realize that the society you thought was, at least, a little bit orderly isn't at all orderly and that everything is far worse than it appears, far worse than most people know, and that leaves you with very little in common with everyone else.
