Anxiety is fear of the unknown - Daily Boost

Anxiety can be a debilitating condition, but sometimes recognising it for what it really is can help to loosen its paralysing grip.

Anxious feelings occur when we are fearful of what may happen in the future. When you break this down to the fact that we cannot truly know the future then anxiety is revealed as an emotion we create out of fear of the unknown - a missfire of the fight or flight response that occurs when we perceive ourselves to be in danger.

If you find yourself riddled with anxiety try taking a deep breath and reciting to yourself:
"What is this anxiety?
It is a fear of the unknown.
The unknown is ok.
Do I need to create this anxiety?
No."

I hope you find this useful 🙂.
Let me know what other techniques you use to help push past moments of anxiety in the comments 😊.

IMPORTANT:
This isn't an instant fix-all and certainly does not cure the underlying causes of anxiety, but instead is intended to be a helping hand. If you are struggling with symptoms of anxiety please seek professional help.

Thanks, for this. Deep breathing helps me, classical music, and the reminder that this, too, shall pass...

If I can distract myself with a book, or a walk, anxiety passes even sooner.

Cheers,
Yahia

You're very welcome 🙂 and thank you for your upvote and comment.
I also find breathing techniques helpful, I've actually got a post coming up in the next few days about it.
Distraction really works well too, it can give the subconscious some time to sort things out without the conscious interfering.

Cool - since we seem to face the same general direction, perhaps, these short meditations of mine might speak to you:

Just watched the video on your page. It's beautiful, some very insightful points.
I love how, although they are short, the aphorisms have such depth. You could spend hours just musing over one.
I think my friend @looksfarwoman would love these too 🙂.

Surfing and Art are helful factors for me. However I still find myself too often dealing with bouts of anxiety and/or fear... If it really gets too much, I remind myself that the body is a temporary vessel, that our journey on earth is a lesson, and that everything that happens, is teaching us to love, to grow and to become self aware...

You've just given me a flashback by mentioning surfing - I used to casually windsurf and found everything else just melted away when I was out on the water so I get where you're coming from there.
Anxiety can be so pervasive can't it? I hope you are able to make progress with it and reduce the frequency it occurs.
Thank you for your comment and input 🙂

Really good advice. I love the idea of a regular daily boost, it could be 'your thing' 😉. Anxiety can be debilitating and anything that can stop an attack before it takes hold, is a godsend. @originalworks

Aw thank you 😊 . I'm enjoying doing these advice shorts. They fulfill my enjoyment of helping others plus I can be a little creative with them.
Oh definitely a godsend when you find coping mechanisms to stave off anxiety attacks!
