HOW TO SLEEP FOR A BETTER POSTURE!

in #health7 years ago

Hello everyone, since one of the topics that most captivates people on my channel is posture related content I'm gonna give you guys exclusive top knowledge on how to better your posture sleeping! So let's go:

  1. The Best Bed

I love soft beds and I think we all do! Unfortunately, a soft bed is not good for our spine and posture in general. I believe the picture is easily understandable, what happens is that the bed shapes as we lay down (especially after using it for a long time) and since our midsection is heavier than our legs and head, in general, it ends up sinking more and more making it curve. So.. yeah, a firmer bed is superior for that reason.

Actually, sleeping on the floor is the best thing for posture, as crazy as it sounds. If you feel like your back is too tight: sleep on the floor for couple days. Yep, I said it. You obviously can put a blanket or something underneath so you're not directly on the floor if it hurts your shoulders but the fact it's not gonna shape is going to enhance your posture A LOT after couple days. Especially if on your day one you feel a bit stiff, that means your posture is bad...
Try it out and see what you think!

  1. How to use a pillow
Ok, this title might have confused you like what's to know about pillows? So follow with me: the best way to have a good posture is keeping your head aligned with your spine, therefore depending on the way you sleep your pillow needs to move... or even get out of there!

The pillow needs to be as tall as your body, so I kinda learned what works perfectly for me: one pillow if I'm sleeping facing up and 2 if I'm on my side. They're thin so that works great.

Also very important: if you sleep on your belly DO NOT USE A PILLOW . Guys, I spent literally months trying to fix my posture and I wasn't seeing much difference and that is because I was doing the right things for like 6 hours a day let's say and sleeping on the most awful position during 8 hours! How am I gonna fix any problem? Took me so long to learn that and no one says it! If you sleep on your belly with a pillow your posture will be forced into anterior pelvic tilt position for the whole night! You can keep doing it... just don't use a pillow!

Bonus tip: randomly waking up in the middle of the night with poor sleep? Go to the bathroom. Seriously. It's crazily weird how it works. Apparently, our body doesn't directly tell us when it wants to pee when we're sleeping so you don't really know that's what your body wants but it works! Just remember to... you know, flush it and wash your hands.

Hope you learned something new!
