diet is a combination of food that we have to get all the nutrients required to the body.
People all over the world have different food habits that depends upon the culture, religion, weather, availability, choice, socio-economic condition and many other factors.
It has always been a topic of discussion weather vegetarian food is good for health or non vegetarian??

Both has it's own good and bad effects on human body.

Vegetarian food

Vegetarian food can be divided into 3 different parts.

  1. Total vegetarian

It includes fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, legumes etc.

  1. Lacto vegetarian

It includes dairy products like milk, butter, cheese etc along with plant products.

  1. Lacto-ovo vegetarian

In includes eggs along with plant and dairy products.

Benefits

  • A balanced vegetarian diet is full of vitamins, unsaturated fatty acids, iron, zinc etc.
  • Vegetarian diet is pocket friendly.
  • It is most preferred diet in India specially in the age group of 50 and above.
  • Vegetarian diet helps lowering body weight.
  • It helps to prevent cholesterol level which in turn reduces the risk of heart disease.
  • The chances of food poisoning is less in vegetarian people.

Drawbacks

  • There are less options for the source of protein and calcium in vegetarian diet which are easily available in non vegetarian food.
  • Vegetarian food has lower nutrients level like Vitamin B-12, iron, fatty acids etc.

Non-vegetarian food

Food of animal origin like fish, meat, eggs are included in non vegetarian diet.

  • Benefits

  • These foods are rich in protein, Vitamin B complex and Omega fatty acids thus very healthy for body.

  • Due to it's high protein content, it is helpful to strengthen the muscles and build body mass.

  • It helps maintain the body stamina and hemoglobin.

  • It promotes healthy skin, good vision and brain development.

Drawbacks

  • Non vegetarian people are more prone to have heart disease, high cholesterol, constipation and obesity.
  • It is seen that the level of anger and stress is high in non vegetarian people.
  • It decreases the resistance of the body.
  • The drugs and medicines given to the animal we eat, affects the health of us.
  • Non vegetarian food may lead to increased chances of food poisoning.
  • Meat industries play a major role in increasing pollution in the water which may lead to increased water born diseases.
  • Meat products are expensive.
