SNORING

What is usually your reaction when someone SNORS next to you at night? Horrible, annoying, and extremely uncomfortable I guess!

Well, not all snors are as a result of tiredness like some of us believe. One of the most common causes of chronic insomnia among adults is related to snoring.

Snoring can be a symptom of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), in which the closure of the throat temporarily prevents a sleeper from sucking air into his lungs.

Steps in treating OSAS include weight loss, avoidance of alcoholic beverages, and avoidance of muscle -relaxant drugs.

Specialists may also prescribe specific medication or the use of dental appliances or a continuous positive airway pressure machine.

In more severe case, surgical corrections of the throat, jaw, tongue, or nose may be necessary in order to make it easier for air to enter and leave during the breathing process.

HOW TO GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

1)Getting regular exercise at the right time of the day. Exercise during the morning or afternoon can help one to be drowsy at bedtime. Working out close to bedtime can interfere with sleep.

2)Before going to bed, it may be better to read something relaxing, listen to soothing music, or take a warm bath.

3)Teach your brain to associate bed with sleep by lying down only when you really mean to sleep. People who eat, study, work, watch TV, play video games, or can't do without pressing their phones in bed may find it harder to fall asleep.

4)Watch your diet. While alcoholic drinks make a person feel drowsy, they can actually impair sleep quality. So avoid coffee, tea, cocoa, chocolate, and cola-based drinks at night because they are stimulants. Rather, take fruits.

5)Avoid eating heavy meals at night, for it can be as harmful to sleep as going to bed on an empty stomach.

Can you improve your SLEEPING HABITS? Why not start TONIGHT!

Thank God i sleep like a baby. I can't stand those guys that snore... it's always a night vigil for me to be in the same room with them.

Same here too, it keeps me awake and scared

I remember the first time I heard my dad snore. I was so scared.

I think snoring is natural to some people. Do you think this is right?

Nice and great article by the way. Love the way you let your voice show through your writing

Whenever my mum snores then that I was still with her, I usually wake her up to adjust her sleeping pattern. That helped her then, but you can imagine how many times I'll many times I'll have to wake her up to adjust.

Nice article, can't really stand it when people snore.

Same with me

Hahahaha, the image is amusing. I pity the woman. Snoring affects me if I am still awake but if i sleep off before the snoring begins, it cant wake me up. Hahaha. This article will be related to someone i know very well who has college degree in snoring, hahahaha
