Testing Unavailable for Covid-19

in #health5 years ago

I went to the doctor today for a follow up office visit. My doctor wanted me to go get tested for coronavirus since I have been on a cruise, been on four flights, and I had a non-productive cough with no fever. I am also a senior.

I went to the lab that my doctor sent the order to for my test. I was told that they did not have any tests available and that they did not test people there. I then went to a different lab of another company that supposedly performed the tests. They also did not do testing and referred me to the hospital.

I went to the hospital, and was greeted by people in protective gear with digital thermometers. I do not have a fever and I also had the flu back in early February.

I spent a couple of hours going through the hospital’s protocol and still did not get tested. When one of the nurses told me that I would have to get a chest x-ray, an EKG, and a swab for the flu, and then be admitted before I could be tested for the virus, I left.

I told the nurse that I would stay at home as my doctor had instructed me to do after I had been tested until the results came back. I let the nurse know that I would stay at home unless I started getting symptoms and didn’t feel well. Otherwise, I would stay quarantined in my house for 14 days.

This thing is crazy. Even though we are being told on television that there are plenty of tests and that anyone can be tested, that is a lie. I do not feel sick, but I am tired from the travel, the wedding, and the house repairs.

I felt that I might get sick from being in the hospital with all of those sick people. America is not prepared for covid-19.

I have plenty to eat, to do, and to read for two weeks. I also have cable television. I will be okay as long as I can stay at my house and away from the public.

Enjoy your evening.

It's amazing that this country isn't prepared to manage something like this. It really underscores the incompetence of this administration.
