Why everyone should go Vegan

in #health7 years ago

So what is veganism ?

Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose. - The Vegan Society

There are many reasons for adopting a vegan diet.

You could just simply say that you want to adopt a vegan diet because of the health benefits. Or maybe you don't just care about your self and say you would also do it for the animals or for our environment.
All of the above are great reasons.

Now let's start with health, since that affects us in the most direct way.

Humans are designed to be herbivorous, due to the fact that we can develop atherosclerosis (clogged arteries) by eating animal products. This is proven in a study by Dr. William Clifford Roberts , the editor of the American Journal of Cardiology: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1312295/

Research supporting that vegan diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy,
childhood, adolescence, older adulthood, and for athletes:

While I myself do eat meat, my SO is a vegan. I do hope to one day make the leap, but there are just too few options out there currently, at least where I live. As I live the gym-lifestyle, I need to consume a lot of proteins every day, and that is a lot harder as a vegan when you have a caloric budget to stick to. Once they solve this issue, I will definitely go vegan for all the health benefits veganism yields.

Than you for the comment :) there are actually proteins in every plant based food you eat, very good sources of protein would be beans or lentils, plants also have antioxidants, witch combat inflammation and are good for recovering after training. meat also has muscle deteriorating properties in older adults, plus it raises IGF-1, with gives you a greater chance of developing cancer soo... eating plants gives you all the benefits for lifting with out causing the suffering and death of animals and slowly killing your self with cholesterol.

Here is also a video explaining this :)

Could not disagree more :) It is definitely NOT proven that eating meat makes clogged arteries. There are thousands of studies on this, so you can't just pick one and make a claim based on that. There are actually ever more studies saying that saturated fat from animals does not clog the arteries at all. And where is the claim that we were herbivores? That goes against most known science..we were most definitely scavengers and omnivorous.

Thousands of studies that the meat, dairy and egg industries finance, always follow the money! It's like listening to the tobacco industry trying to advocate for cigarettes. The world health organization has classified processed meats as carcinogens.

I lived in Sonoma County and there are two clinics that help people transition to a Whole Foods Plant Based Diet, the True North Health Center and the Dr. McDougall's Health & Medical Center. This is a video form the Advanced Study Weekend in Santa Rosa:

Milton Mills, MD: Are Humans Designed to Eat Meat?

Thank you!!

This "Claim" is a peer reviewed study and not some bias study that is flawed in design so yeah..

I normally wouldnt argue pro vegan and i havent in the past.
Im not per se against eating meet.
What i think is:
►There is enough food for everyone on the planet.
► There is no real need for consuming meat
► Animal farming conditions are just horrible

We are so used to consuming meat and also used to denying the fact that its a real animal (if you get it in a nice packing in the supermarket)

But to be honest, Im not a vegetarian yet, still consumin organic meat whenever i buy it. Im not through with my inner process and a final solution what and what not to do.

It sounds like you're already vegan morally, you just need some motivation. I recommend the documentaries Earthlings, What the Health, Cowspiracy and this:

Good luck : )

That is true. There is a learning curve to everything, so if you want to be healthier more athletic and not cause unnecessary suffering and death of animals I would strongly recommend educating yourself about veganism :)
