Ancient Olympic athletes would eat honey to enhance their performance. This has now been verified with modern studies, showing that it is superior in maintaining glycogen levels and improving recovery time than other sweeteners.
Reduces a cough and throat irritation
It helps with coughs, particularly buckwheat honey. In a study of 105 children, a single dose of buckwheat honey was just as effective as a single dose of dextromethorphan in relieving nocturnal cough and allowing proper sleep. I confirm that it is super effective on the cough of my children, as soon as I hear them cough I give them a teaspoon of honey and the next day they are cured it is wonderful and it saves them from having to take more medicine aggressive to the body
Balance the 5 elements
It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine in India for at least 4000 years and is considered to affect all three of the bodyโs primitive material imbalances positively. It is also said to be useful in improving eyesight, weight loss, curing impotence and premature ejaculation, urinary tract disorders, bronchial asthma, diarrhea, and nausea.
Honey has a quality of penetrating the deepest tissues of the body. When honey is used with other herbal preparations, it enhances the medicinal qualities of those preparations and also helps them to reach the deeper tissues.
Blood sugar regulation
Even though it contains simple sugars, it is not the same as white sugar or artificial sweeteners. Its exact combination of fructose and glucose actually helps the body regulate blood sugar levels. Some kinds of honey do have a low hypoglycemic index, so they donโt jolt your blood sugar.
Heal wounds and burns
External application of honey has been shown to be as effective as conventional treatment with silver sulfadiazine. It is speculated that the drying effect of the simple sugars and honeyโs antibacterial nature combine to create this effect. Studies have shown it to be very successful in healing wounds.
Probiotic
Some varieties possess large amounts of friendly bacteria. This includes up to 6 species of lactobacilli and 4 species of bifidobacteria. This may explain many of the mysterious therapeutic properties of honey.
Strengthen the immune system
Honey, Manuka for example, has been found to stimulate the production of immune cells.
Different kinds of honey have different flavonoid profiles, depending on the floral source of the nectar. The most beneficial kinds of honey for the body are Manuka and buckwheat.
If you want to get the goodness from your honey, make sure it is pure and raw. Raw honey contains vitamins, minerals, and enzymes not present in refined honey.
Beauty Benefits of Honey
A care for a pretty skin
Honey can do real miracles on your skin: anti-aging, moisturizing, antioxidant, honey protects the skin from UV rays and facilitates its regeneration. In addition, the honey absorbs and retains moisture and leaves your skin fresh and supple.
To make your homemade mask with honey, mix a teaspoon of pure honey, a tablespoon of olive oil and an egg yolk. Leave for 12 to 20 minutes and rinse with hot water.
A care for your hair and a hair lightener
The honey is miraculous for the damaged and dry hair and the haircuts that have lost their luster. It cleanses and shines.
The sweet enzymes of honey release hydrogen peroxide, an element known for its lightening virtues. You can win a few hues thanks to the honey.
To make your homemade mask, mix three tablespoons of honey with two tablespoons of water and apply the mixture on clean and damp hair. Leave for one hour, rinse thoroughly and repeat every week for best results. In addition, your hair will benefit from all the other benefits of honey outlined above.
A soothing treatment against sunburn
Honey can be a very good way to soothe your painful sunburns allied to aloe vera. Honey will moisturize damaged and heated skin while aloe vera with anti-inflammatory properties will calm your burn and boost the regeneration of your epidermis.
To accomplish the after-sun care, mix one third of honey to two thirds of aloe vera and apply it on your sunburn.
A solution against acne
Acne is often caused by the excess of sebum that clogs the pores of the skin. Since honey absorbs small impurities from the pores of the skin, it acts as a cleansing agent. Its antiseptic, softening and soothing properties make this magic ingredient the perfect remedy for small pimples.
