# YOU AND BACTERIA

in #health7 years ago

According to Biologist, You are an animal as the bacteria are animals also. You are a higher animal and the bacteria is a lower animals. In more technical term, you are a Macro-organism and the bacteria are some Micro-organisms. But when I say You and Bacteria, I mean the symbiotic relationship between you and the bacteria. The much question to ask will be: what is the relationship between you and bacteria?

In a more understandable way, I will say that you're the producer while the bacteria is the consumer. The relationship between "You and bacteria " is about parasitism and pathogenicity, a few can exhibit variant mode of survival on the host, get nourishment and sometimes causes ailment. These are the ones that their relationship are said to be parasitic and pathogenic.

The primary aim of the bacteria in going into the host, (You) is not for pathogenicity but for parasitism. But as the bacteria destroy the cells of the host by feeding on them and releasing of toxic waste products, they cause the ailment: pathogenicity. Being specific is important when we talk of pathogenicity, because different species of bacteria cause different diseases or ailments to the host. For example, the diseases like a Vaginal Odour, is caused by entamoeba vaginalis, tuberculosis is caused by Bacterium tuberculosis and host of others.

The symbiotic ones live in the body of the host and help the host in one way or the other and do get nourishment or means of survival from the host during the activity. It is imperative to know that a bacterium is said to be in Symbiotic relationship if and only if, it benefits from host and the host benefits from the actions of the bacteria as well. Such bacteria include Escherichia Coli that lives in the small intestine of man, helping in the digestion of Cellulose while the host benefits by having its cellulose digested.

Having talked at length emphasizing the negative aspect of bacteria, it's worthy to mention some of their positive aspects too. In brewery and bakery industries, some bacteria are cultured to enable the fermentation of some starch for the production of ethanol and Carbon IV Oxide, which are used in making beer and making dough to rise respectively. The bacteria in the soil also help in decomposing decayed plant and animal materials which enrich the soil with nutrients.

Finally, I advise, having known the positive and negative aspects of bacteria in your relationship with bacteria or any activity that should bring you in contact with bacteria should be seriously checked. This can be done by simplest and cheapest way of maintaining a good personal hygiene. Keep your own house and its surroundings pure and clean. This hygiene will keep you healthy and benefit your worldly life. Man does not live by soap alone; and hygiene, or even health, is not much good unless you can take a healthy view of it or, better still, feel a healthy indifference to it. To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear..
