The sensor is implanted into the arm under local anaesthetic, and supposed to last for up to 90 days compared to current sensors which only last for up to two weeks. For more information you can check out their website

I've seen something like this!!!! I saw one though - that was just sticking on the skin - and not actually implanted under the skin.

Do you think the fact that is has to be implanted will be a deterrent to some people???

It might be a deterent to me! But if it's critical to monitor that info regularly, having it under the skin would be no worse than having to keep sticking your finger, I guess.

The two main competitors would be from dexcom and the freestyle libre, those both have small needles which are inserted subcutaneous and you dont have to do it under anaesthesia. And they are removed pretty easily. Down side to these you have to replace them about every two weeks.

Upsides for this it lasts for 3 months, downsides inserted under anaesthetic and there have been some retreival issues so far. Costs are expensive for all of these not sure of the cost of this yet, but i suspect it will cost a fair bit too!! I think if anyone had to have a small procedure every three months to retrieve and insert a new one may be a deterrent for some people. I know there is work in progress for a “tattoo like sensor” which can do this without the need for any procedure. Some interesting times ahead in this field.

it was really nice app, i like it sir
