FIVE CAUSES OF PIMPLES THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

You might be in a stage where you are getting pimples. Pimples are one of the common skin diseases we see in our societies more often, so it will be very useful to know some of the causes of it. It is caused by numerous factors with which we will discuss five of such causes in today.

WHAT ARE PIMPLES?

Pimples are small papules or pustules. It is an inflamed area of the skin with pus formation that results from an oil gland being infected with bacteria or when they are clogged. They are due to the over activity of the oil glands located at the base of the hair follicles, especially on the face, back, chest and shoulders.

LIFE OF A PIMPLE

The life of a pimple can be anywhere between 3 days to a week, latest by 2 weeks. That means that you can expect your pimple to disappear within this period of time. If you are lucky, it may take 3 days for it to disappear completely.

CAUSES OF PIMPLES

Sebum, an oily secretion of the sebaceous gland which helps to preserve the flexibility of the hair. When dead skin cells which are shed from the follicle and the skin bacteria in the presence of sebum forms a clog, which can lead to pimple formation. When the body produces high amount of sebum, there is a high possibility of pimple formation on the skin

Puberty, this is a stage where most young people starts to develop pimples. Puberty is marked by the production of various hormones which helps the body to function. Androgens are part of the hormones that are produced during puberty. Due to the action of the hormones, a gland called sebaceous gland begins to enlarge. All this changes during puberty can trigger so many skin problems of which pimple is no exception.

Bacteria, bacteria’s always present on the skin. When a follicle is plucked, multiple growths of acne bacteria starts to occur which creates a reaction near the surrounding skin and inflammation occurs in the follicle.

Bacteria contact, when there is a bacteria contact to an already existing pimples, it reddens it and it may be painful as well. Contact with bacteria may occur as you try to pop a pimple with your fingers, the bacteria on the fingers may get into the pimple and may cause infection.

Genetic, this may trigger pimple formation as your family history on pimples may determine the likelihood that you will get pimples or not.

CONCLUSION

Pimples are more likely to occur at puberty, even after puberty as well. It is been known that girls and women having their menstrual period can develop pimples and it disappear soon after they are done. Pregnant women are no exception. All these factors are linked to the fact that, hormonal action takes place during these processes.
