3 STEPS TO SUCCESSFULLY OVERCOME AN ADDICTION
To overcome an addiction is not an easy task to achieve but it's very possible to achieve it. It needs your conscious work, effort and time. However, if you're struggling from one addiction to another, here are 3 steps to aid.
Meanwhile, these steps shouldn't stop you from seeking the help of a professional if it's necessary. Seeking guidance from a counselor or therapist is highly recommended.
Acknowledgement: This is the first step to successfully overcome an addiction. You need to be truthful with yourself and acknowledge that you’re struggling with an addiction. Recovery from addiction can begin just this simple admission of being powerless over whatever you're addicted to. May Alcohol, gambling, drug or any other thing you're addicted to.
Willingness: The next step is to be willing to overcome the addiction, you must desire for things to be different. That's to say, you are ready to make the necessary changes to overcome your addiction.
Action: The last step on my list is to take action. You start with first, Forgiveness - you need to first forgive yourself, anyone and anything you need to. This can be good medicine for the spirit and soul. Then, you need to generate a new behavior to help eliminate your old habits. You know your addiction is nothing more but a habit you have built over time. To discard it, you need to have it replaced with something else more satisfying just like the same needs you were craving while involve in your addiction. But this time around in healthy and beneficial ways. You can join a good community group, engage in sports activities, yoga, meditation and above all getting more closer to God.
